Familial confounding of the association between maternal smoking during pregnancy and ADHD in offspring

Previous research show that women who smoke during pregnancy have a higher risk of getting a child with ADHD, suggesting a causal negative effect of nicotine. But we show that this association also can be explained by heritability of ADHD.
